Types of Credential Evaluation
Thank you for your interest in the foreign credential evaluation service that we offer.
Our main goal is to help students, as well as professionals who have completed all or part of their education outside the United States reach their educational and career goals. We do this through the process called foreign credential evaluation (also often referred to as international credential evaluation or international degree evaluation).
International credential evaluation process involves analyzing and critically assessing educational credentials obtained from countries outside of the United States to determine its equivalents in terms of U.S. education system. We evaluate educational credentials such as high school diploma/secondary or higher secondary school certificate, undergraduate (associate, bachelor) and graduate (master or doctorate) degrees.
Once we are done reviewing and assessing, and validating the educational credentials, we generate an evaluation report with sufficient information on the equivalent of level of education completion in the United States.
Our evaluation report is suitable for applicants pursuing further education (undergraduate, transfer or graduate admission), employment, immigration, and professional license or certification.
To date, we have evaluated academic credentials for applicants from various countries in Africa, Europe, Latin and South America, Asia, and Middle East. Our specialty is grounded in our skills and knowledge in educational systems around the world.
It is important to emphasize that our company evaluates international credentials by following strict ethical standards and procedures set forth by international education organizations such as NAFSA (Association of International Educators), AACRAO (American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers), TAICEP (The Association of International Credential Evaluation Professionals).
This type of credential evaluation provides an overview/summary of education credentials obtained abroad to the United States equivalent. In the report, we include purpose of evaluation, list institution(s) attended, the name, type and level of degree or diploma obtained; major or program completed and institution(s) accreditation and recognition, as well as the overall equivalent of the educational qualification obtained.
Please see samples of credential evaluation report section for more information.
Comprehensive/Detailed course-by-course evaluation report contains the same information as general evaluation and other information such as courses completed at post-high or secondary school level, the credit and grade conversion. We also calculate and provide GPA information on a U.S. 4.0 scale. This type of evaluation enables prospective applicant to obtain college credits (lower/upper level courses) for previous college coursework. It also allows higher education institutions, professional organizations to have a true picture of applicant’s academic classification/rank. Furthermore, a comprehensive/detailed course-by-course with GPA evaluation is suitable for transfer or continuing undergraduate and graduate admission, employment, professional licensure, etc.
At BEIS, the step to credential evaluation process begins by collecting information from applicant, thus, we require every applicant to complete application for credential evaluation, provide accurate biographical and education data. We also require applicant to list all educational institution(s) attended with dates on the application and submit all educational documents obtained outside the United States. These documents include graduation certificate, transcript/mark sheet, statement of results, etc.
It is imperative to know the status of educational institution applicants presented for evaluation. Therefore, we check on the status of foreign academic institution where the applicant studied to ensure that the educational institution attended exist. We also do research to determine the accreditation and recognition of the education institution through the official government establishment such as Ministry of Education/Ministry of Higher Education of the country concerned. We check the institution that issued the education credentials the applicant presented against the list of Unaccredited/Diploma Mills database or registry for reference.
The verification, validation and/or authentication of academic credentials presented for evaluation is an integral part of evaluation process and is very crucial to confirm the overall authenticity of the academic credentials. We compare the educational documents presented to the list of verified documents that we have in our archives and other sources to determine authenticity and identify forged or altered documents. Most importantly, we reserve the right to contact the issuing institution for verification. Therefore, any documents found to be altered or forged are not returned to the applicant and all fees paid is forfeited. In addition, we notify all parties concerned and seek legal action to the extent permitted by law.
Many other educational institutions that do not appear here may also accept evaluations done by BEIS. Applicant should check with the institution to which you are applying or intend to submit your evaluation to be certain that the evaluation will be recognized or accepted.
